At Beer and Knitting the other night we made a field trip for dessert and I bought these Turkish cookies. They scared
imaginarycircus but I've had good cookies from unexpected places before. Plus, chocolate. (If I had been thinking, I would have brought the Tim Tams I purchased earlier that day but I wasn't thinking. And clearly I needed more chocolate.)
( cookies! )
I've found a good walking route from my place to the coffee shop. The other day road crews were doing some work on a side street, I found the sign amusing.

Speaking of my new place, I'm settling in well and managed to fit most of my stuff in the apartment. It feels like my house but shrunk by 30%. ( For example, )
Bonus pictures - ( clicky )
I remember looking at these pictures as a kid. Mom tucked the pages in a book that showed how to make cakes in neat shapes - a train, a lion, a bird with a leg in a cast. My brother and I would get to pick one for our birthday cake. They never looked exactly right because Mom didn't want to make 3 different colors of frosting and hated making the 7 minute frosting the recipe called for (to be fair, she didn't have a hand mixer, just a really heavy stand mixer so it was a real pain). We did enjoy poring through the (small) book and deciding on and then changing our minds about which cake to have.
Other photos of my place and general stuff are here on Flickr.
