Because [personal profile] coffeetime asked.

1. What's your favorite candle scent?
Light floral/citrus like lemon verbena.

2. What female celebrity do you wish was your sister?
Jennifer Lawrence. Or Amy Pohler

3. What male celebrity do you wish was your brother?
Hmm, my own brother is pretty awesome. Maybe Robert Downey Jr so I could enter Comic Con on a yacht.

4. How old do you think you'll be when you get married?
Way old. Or I may never get married.

5. Do you know a hoarder?
My mom is not quite a hoarder but she was a librarian and hates to throw papers away. My brother says when she dies we'll rent a dumpster and toss all the articles, magazines, etc. she has been saving.

6. Can you do a split?
Not now. I was more flexible as a kid and could almost do a split then.

7. How old were you when you learned how to ride a bike?
Six or seven.

8. How many oceans have you swam in?
One, the Atlantic, which I have swam in multiple places. The first time I went in the water in the Gulf of Mexico I was shocked that it was actually warm. The lakes in Michigan do not get warm.
When I was in LA I dipped a toe in the Pacific to say that I did but it wasn't a great day and I did not have much time before I had to catch my flight.

9. How many countries have you been to?
11 including the US

10. Is anyone in your family in the army?
My dad did ROTC and served stateside but got out before he was sent anywhere overseas.

11. What would you name your daughter if you had one?
When I was a kid I would have said some flowery name (as opposed to my own practical name). Now I'd name her after my friend Darya who has been gone almost 14 years now.

12. What would you name your son if you had one?
At one time I would have said Alexander. It's a moot point now, no kids for me.

13. What's the worst grade you got on a test?
Around a 61 on my economics midterm. I did not realize the graphs the professor was drawing were something we'd have to replicate.

14. What was your favorite TV show when you were a child?
When you're a child you can watch a lot more TV, you have a lot of free time. I did love Sesame Street. And Speed Racer. And Underdog, that was great.

15. What did you dress up as on Halloween when you were eight?
That was likely the year my non-crafty mom decided she was going to make costumes for me and my brother, out of real patterns and everything. She made me an awesome princess dress in hot pink with sequined rick rack. I wore it a number of times. After she made those she said "never again" and we dressed up in old clothes of hers and dad's if we didn't wear the hand made costumes.

16. Have you read any of the Harry Potter, Hunger Games or Twilight series?
All of HP and the Hunger Games. A friend gave me Twilight on a pdf so I read it. I did not bother with the rest of the series though I did read Cleolinda's recap of Breaking Dawn.

17. Would you rather have an American accent or a British accent?
I don't care that much either way

18. Did your mother go to college?
Yes, and grad school. She has two master degrees.

19. Are your grandparents still married?
Both sets of grandparents were married when they died.

20. Have you ever taken karate lessons?
No and I never wanted to, especially after a friend told me every class they got inspected to make sure they cut their nails short. I like having long nails when I can.

21. Do you know who Kermit the frog is?
Of course. I feel sad for anyone who doesn't.

22. What's the first amusement park you've been to?
Probably Cedar Point. It might have been Astroworld in Houston, which my uncle drove us to in his RV. We thought that was about the best thing ever.

23. What language, besides your native language, would you like to be fluent in?
Spanish. I studied it in high school but haven't maintained much.

24. Do you spell the color as grey or gray?
Both

No. All of the men in my family have lots of hair on their heads, though not always much facial hair.

26. Do you know triplets?
Twins yes but no triplets.

Why do I have to choose either?

28. Have you ever had Indian food?
When I was growing up my parents took us out to Chinese and Indian restaurants, which was not the norm then.

29. What's the name of your favorite restaurant?
Can't really pick a favorite, there are so many great places here. I used to live near Bergamot in Somerville and go there at least once a month. The staff is fantastic and sitting at the bar was almost like hanging out.

30. Have you ever been to Olive Garden?
The last time was when my brother was in college and he wanted to go there because of the quantities of food. That was ages ago.

31. Do you belong to any warehouse stores (Costco, BJ's, etc.)?
Costco is great when you live somewhere that has space to store stuff. I used to belong but not now that I live in a city apt.

32. What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender?
John Robert. They did not name my brother that because Mom found out that was her obstetrician's name and she did not want him thinking she'd named her kid after him.

Kathy, Kat, Katrina Verina

34. Who's your favorite person in the world?

Vitamins and one med.

42. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo?
Yes, multiple times. I own it.

I buy the Levis for curvy ladies at Kohl's. They are reasonably priced and, as my manicurist told me, they make my badonkadonk look fab.

44. What's the last compliment you got?
"I thought you'd be great in bed and I was right."

45. Do you usually remember your dreams in the morning?
Not often. If I do I sometimes look up the symbols at dreammoods.com.

46. What flavor tea do you enjoy?
Tazo's Refresh tea is good, it's a mint tea. I also like Red Zinger. If drinking black tea I prefer the British versions that get are dark and could probably remove paint (Tetley's, PG Tips).

47. How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?
At a rough guess, around 20 though I wear about 5 pairs regularly.

48. What religion will you raise your children to practice?
I was raised in a More Light Presbyterian church and I'd have been happy to have my kids raised in that tradition. We learned about other religions on Sunday School - and not in a bad way, in a "here are some other religions" way.

49. How old were you when you found out that Santa wasn't real?
Seven or so

50. Why do you still have a journal here, considering everyone else is on Facebook?
FB is a different crowd, friends from RL. DW and LJ are where my real internet friends are (were).
